7 October 2025 - Service alterations due to ongoing signalling system problems

Unfortunately, some of our routes have been affected by disruption this week due to various faults with the signalling systems that allow our trains to run safely.

We apologise for the disruption to your journeys. If you have been delayed by 15 minutes or more please apply for Delay Repay - please ensure that you keep your train ticket(s) to support any claim.

The main problems have been on the stretch of line between Aylesbury and Amersham, however there have also been some delays between Banbury and Bicester North.

The disruption has arisen due to the impact of Storm Amy last weekend, which caused a large amount of particularly wet and large leave to fall onto the railway tracks. This has meant that there have been instances of the signalling system, which monitors the position of trains, temporarily losing train detection. Out of an abundance of caution, the Network Rail signallers therefore have to allow additional space between trains, which means that fewer trains than normal can run. We are working with Network Rail to mitigate the leaf fall issues as quickly as possible and are hopeful that the current problems will be resolved within 24 hours.

Please see our leaf-fall page for further information on the impact that fallen leaves have on the railway.

The following service alterations are being made to this evening's peak-time services (Tuesday 7 October) from London Marylebone:

  • 1557 MYB-AYS (via Amersham) - Cancelled
  • 1V51 1730 MYB-AVP (via Amersham) - Diverted via High Wycombe & Princes Risborough
  • 1V53 1759 MYB-AVP (via Amersham) - Diverted via High Wycombe & Princes Risborough
  • 1V55 1830 MYB-AVP (via Amersham) - Diverted via High Wycombe & Princes Risborough
  • 2B56 1841 MYB-AYS (via Amersham) - Cancelled

Other timetabled services are planned to run as normal and, where possible, services either side of the trains that are cancelled or diverted will be strengthened to reduce crowding.
