There is significant investment planned to improve the passenger experience at Oxford station, with an additional platform and western entrance. The first phase of this work begins shortly and will see improvements to the track in the station area.
Over four weekends in September and October, Network Rail will be replacing the tracks between Oxford and Banbury.
During the weekend works, Oxford station will be closed and all Chiltern Railways services will terminate at Oxford Parkway on these dates:
- Saturday 10 – Sunday 11 September
- Saturday 17 – Sunday 18 September (Cancelled)
- Saturday 24 – Sunday 25 September
- Saturday 01 – Sunday 02 October
Rail replacement bus services
Buses will replace train services between Oxford Parkway and Oxford station.
- At Oxford station, replacement buses will depart from bus stop R1 outside the front of the station.
- At Oxford Parkway, replacement buses will depart from the front of the station.
Unfortunately, rail replacement bus services will not operate on Saturday 17 September. Customers can still travel from Oxford Parkway on this date to central Oxford via local bus services.
Local alternative bus services
Passengers with rail tickets to/from Oxford station, can also use local bus services to travel between Oxford Parkway and Oxford town centre.
- 2 between Kidlington, Oxford Parkway and Oxford
- 7 between Woodstock, Oxford Parkway and Oxford
Buses will depart Oxford Parkway station at Stop E.
The track replacement work will also affect CrossCountry trains between Banbury, Oxford and Didcot Parkway, plus GWR trains between Didcot Parkway, Oxford and Hanborough.
