Carnet - Terms and Conditions

Please note that Carnet Tickets are no longer available from June 28th 2021.

This change enables us to be consistent with other train companies who offer the same type of product, whilst ensuring our passengers make a saving.

Passengers will benefit from 10 open return anytime tickets to London Marylebone for the price of 9. Tickets are valid for 3 months from the date of purchase.

Carnet tickets are available to purchase from Marylebone station ticket office or Via Business Travel only.

1. REGISTER AS CARNET USER
We require proof of address, as well as a photographic identification from customers wishing to take advantage of the convenience our carnet tickets provide. The details provided to us may be used to correspond should the need arise.

2. CHECK DATE
Carnet Tickets are non refundable, and we therefore strongly advise our customers to be very careful to double check the date you are travelling BEFORE STARTING to write on your ticket, - altered tickets will be invalid, may be seized, and subject of investigation.

Your ticket must be dated before passing the point at which you would normally be expected to use any other ticket (booking office, ticket machine, etc.) and in any event before inserting into a ticket gate at a station before you start your journey.

3. NEVER ALTER A CARNET TICKET
Your ticket will NOT be valid for travel on any date other than the date entered in the box on the ticket. Do not under any circumstances attempt to alter the date once you have written it in the box. If you make a mistake, you must either use another carnet ticket OR buy another ticket for your journey.

Alterations to dates could be considered fraudulent, and (depending on circumstances) you could be prosecuted if an altered ticket is discovered.

4. USE BLACK INK ONLY
Do not use other than ball point or BLACK indelible ink pen to complete the date on your ticket. Use of other colours is not acceptable, and may invalidate your ticket. In cases of doubt, our booking office staff will be pleased to assist you.

5. WRITE DATE LEGIBLY
The date must be written so that it is clear and legible. (There must be no room for misinterpretation). Allow the ink to dry - SMUDGED ink could render your ticket invalid.

6. DATE FORMAT
The date MUST be completed in the format DD MM YY (including leading zeros). Incorrectly dated tickets are not valid, and will be seized.

(Copy examples of correctly and incorrectly dated tickets in this respect).

7. USE BOX PROVIDED
A box is provided for the date to be entered. The date MUST be completed ONLY in the box, and not elsewhere on the ticket. Writing outside the box may result in the ticket being considered defaced or invalid, may result in the ticket being seized, and (depending on the circumstances) a penalty fare notice being issued or in serious cases the possibility of proceedings.

8. VALIDITY
Carnet tickets are valid for a period of three months from date of issue.

9. USE BY EXPIRY DATE
Tickets must be used before or on the date of expiry printed on them.

RETENTION OF TICKETS
Our Carnets will operate our automatic ticket gates. The Carnet will be retained like any other two part ticket. Carnet tickets later discovered to have been undated may be treated as invalid tickets, and this could result in action being taken

TRANSFER OF CARNETS
Carnet tickets are transferable, but the person to whom the Carnet is issued may be asked for details of the person to whom they have been transferred in the event that the Carnet is found to be invalid
