Ticket types & fares

Advance

These are quite simply our best value fares. A limited number of Single Advance tickets are released up to 12 weeks ahead of travel and as a rule of thumb, the earlier you book the cheaper the fare.

These type of tickets are perfect if you like to plan ahead and are happy to stick to a particular date and time. Advance fares are available on most longer distance journeys on our trains.

You can buy online or at your nearest ticket office and you can make further savings when you use your railcard. This ticket is not refundable but amendable for a fee.

Anytime

Anytime fares are great for flexibility. They don’t need to be booked in advance (you can purchase just before you travel) and you aren’t fixed to a particular train time.

You can buy an Anytime Day Single, which enables you to travel out at any time on the date you have chosen, an Anytime Day Return which enables you to travel back at any time on the date you have chosen, or an Anytime Return, which allows you to travel back at any time within a month.

You can buy online, or at your nearest ticket office and you can make further savings when you use your railcard. These tickets are refundable and amendable up to the date of departure, subject to an administration fee.

Off Peak

Looking to travel outside of the peak? Off Peak tickets are a great compromise between an Advance and an Anytime fare – you aren’t tied to a specific train but you’ll still get a great price as you’ll be avoiding the busiest periods.

For Off Peak Day Return tickets, you can travel back at anytime outside the peak period that day, while for Off Peak Return tickets, you can travel back at anytime outside the peak period within a month of the outward journeys.

For journeys to and from London, the typical commuter times that Off Peak tickets are not valid on our services are:

- Trains which are timed to arrive into London Marylebone before 1000 on weekdays

- Trains which are timed to leave London Marylebone between 0630 and 0830 for stations Bicester North/Village and south on weekdays. For journeys between London and stations Banbury and north, Off Peak tickets are still valid during this time.

You can buy online, or at your nearest ticket office and you can make further savings when you use your railcard. These tickets are refundable and amendable up to the date of departure, subject to an administration fee.

Super Off  Peak

Super Off Peak tickets avoid morning and evening commuter times – and are even cheaper than Off Peak fares. If you’re travelling for leisure but still want some flexibility, Super-Off-Peak could be ‘just the ticket’.

Super Off Peak Singles are valid for one journey on the date printed on the ticket, whereas Super Off Peak Returns are valid for a return journey within a month of the outward journey.

Super Off Peak tickets are available on most longer distance journeys on our trains.

For journeys to and from London, the typical commuter times that Super Off Peak tickets are not valid on our services are:

- Trains which are timed to arrive into London Marylebone before 1130 on weekdays

- Trains which are timed to leave London Marylebone between 0630 and 0830 and between 1600 and 1900 on weekdays.

You can buy online, or at your nearest ticket office and you can make further savings when you use your railcard. These tickets are refundable and amendable up to the date of departure, subject to an administration fee.
