New parking tariffs
We've introduced updated parking tariffs at most of our stations as part of our ongoing work to keep your parking experience safe, convenient and well-maintained.
You can view and download the new rates here and we’ve created some FAQs to answer any questions you may have about what’s changing and why.
Parking payments
For regular commuters, payments for parking season tickets are handled securely through APCOA. If you only need to park for a day or a week, simply use RingGo to pay for your ticket in moments.
Car Parking FAQs
How much are the increases?
The average increase for our most popular Peak tariff will be 4.1%, which is linked with the current level of inflation; however, the increases vary by station and different session types (Peak, Off-peak and season tickets).
Bicester North Tariff has gone up 12.5%, above the 4.1% following the car park refurbishment. This is the first increase at this location since covid.
Whilst the Off -Peak tariff increase is greater; these sessions offer a 30% reduction compared to a Peak tariff. Season tickets still offer the best value for frequent car park users.
• A weekly season tariff is the same cost as 4 Peak sessions but is valid for 7 days.
• A monthly season tariff is the same costs as 16 Peak sessions but is valid for 28-31 days.
• A yearly season tariff is the same cost as 168 Peak sessions but is valid for 364 days.
Why has Chiltern Railways increased car park tariffs?
The revenue generated by car parking helps us to maintain and manage our car parks, it allows us to fund a repairs and maintenance program, along with investments in new facilities.
We know that this increase may be significant for some of our customers, and we are working hard to ensure that we provide value for money and suitable facilities for all.
What investments will you be making?
This year, we have invested over £3million into Bicester North, and over £4.5 million into Haddenham & Thame Car Park alongside other adhoc maintenance work on our other car parks.
Will the increases apply to all stations?
The increases will affect all our station car parks, except for Haddenham & Thame Parkway. This station has no price rises due to the project works on going at this station.
Does this apply to all car parking tariffs, including off-peak and season tickets?
Yes, the increase applies to peak time, off-peak, daily, weekly, monthly, and annual car park season tickets.
Are rail fares increasing at the same time?
No, this change only applies to the cost to park at the car parks that we manage.
Will this increase affect Blue badge holders?
No. Blue Badge holders can still park at stations free of charge. If you do intend to park at the station using a blue badge, please register your blue badge with station staff, via the APCOA Blue Badge Permit Portal or with our customer relations before you travel.
Will these increases affect the short stay and drop off time period (currently 20 minutes)?
No. There are no changes to short -stay/drop off parking sessions, these will remain free of charge (up to 20 minutes).
Are there any increases to motorcycle parking?
No, this will remain free of charge in the designated bays.
