Chiltern Railways’ new Oxford Parkway station scoops National Rail Award

Chiltern Railways were celebrating a win last week as they secured medium-size ‘Station of the Year’ at the National Rail Awards for Oxford Parkway station. Opened by Chiltern Railways just 11 months ago in October 2015, it was one of two new stations opened on the new line between Oxford and London Marylebone. The judges described it as an “iconic” new station and praised not only the location, but also the staff, which they said were “setting the highest standards of service.” They commented that the station features an outstanding ticket hall, with innovative ticketing and information systems.

Jenny Payne, Chiltern’s Customer Services Director said:
“We are very proud of Oxford Parkway and the incredible team of people working at the station. When we designed the service, we put customers at the heart of our thinking to create a new way of travelling to London. Our customers consistently tell us they like the experience we deliver and to have our investment and hard work recognised with this award, is a huge achievement.”

The next phase of the Oxford to London Marylebone line will open on 12th December 2016 when Chiltern Railways begins running trains from Oxford city centre.
