When can you travel with a Duo Ticket?

• Duo Tickets are valid on trains arriving in London after 11:30am on weekdays. On weekends, you can travel at any time.
• For your return journey, you cannot use these tickets on trains leaving London before 08:30 or between 16:00 and 19:00 on weekdays. There are no return time restrictions at weekends.
• Available only on selected routes - see full terms and conditions.
• These tickets are refundable* and amendable up to the date of departure, subject to an administration fee.
• Refunds will only be permitted up until 23:59 the day before the ticket becomes valid. After this date, no refund will be given unless under exceptional circumstances. Please note that a £5 admin fee will be applied to your refund.
• However, if you choose not to travel as a result of disruption caused by the rail industry, we will be able to apply for your refund up until 28 days after the tickets expiry date.

Can I use a railcard with a Duo Ticket?

No, railcards cannot be used with a Duo Ticket. Always check if a railcard offers a better discount for your trip.

When do I need to book my Duo Ticket? Is it always in advance?

Yes, you must buy your Duo Ticket by 23:59 the day before you travel. You cannot buy a Duo Ticket at the station on the day that you plan to go.

Can children use Duo Tickets?

No, Duo train tickets are valid for two adults (aged 16 or over).

What is the best way to use a Duo Ticket from Oxford?

Duo Tickets are not available if you start at Oxford station. You should start your journey at Oxford Parkway instead.

Can I get a refund if I cannot travel that day?

Before your travel date you can apply to get a refund. From 1 April 2026, the rules are changing. You will need to apply for your refund by 23:59 the day before your ticket becomes valid. A £5 admin fee usually applies to all refunds.

What happens if my companion cannot travel?

Both people named on the booking must travel together. One person cannot use a Duo Ticket alone as the discount is for a pair. The best solution is to get a refund the Duo Ticket and then buy an off-peak ticket if you are travelling at the same time.
