Travel Advisory for customers travelling to Wembley Stadium for the EFL Championship Play-Off Final

Chiltern Railways is running extra trains for customers travelling from Birmingham to Wembley on Monday 27th May for the EFL Championship Play-off Final.

Over 19,000 seats are being provided for customers attending the game between Aston Villa and Derby County, with trains departing from Birmingham Moor Street every 20 minutes between 7.30am and 11am to help get Villa fans to Wembley Stadium. Additionally, between 5pm and 8pm, Chiltern Railways are running services every 20 minutes from Wembley Stadium to Birmingham Moor Street to get passengers back home.

There will be extended queuing times at both Wembley Stadium and Birmingham Moor Street stations, so passengers are advised to allow extra time for their journey as trains will be much busier than usual.

In order to free-up resources, customers are advised that there is no service operating between Kidderminster and Birmingham Moor Street and a reduced service will operate on the Marylebone – Amersham – Aylesbury route during the afternoon and evening. During this period, buses will replace trains between Aylesbury and Aylesbury Vale Parkway. Additionally, buses will replace trains for local journeys between Warwick Parkway and Dorridge all day, and between Leamington Spa and Stratford-upon-Avon for a period in the evening.

Customers are advised to:

  • Purchase tickets in advance from our website or via the Chiltern app to save time at stations and guarantee the best value fare.
  • Allow extra time for their journey as there will be extended queueing times at Wembley Stadium station and Birmingham Moor Street.
  • Check their journey before travelling as an amended timetable will be running for the Bank Holiday and journey times may be affected.
