Advice for Banbury residents travelling during August Bank Holiday weekend

Preparation for the brand new high-speed railway will take place over the August Bank Holiday weekend on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 August 2017. As a result, London Euston station will be closed and trains and stations on the Chiltern line are expected to be extremely busy.

An amended timetable will run on these dates, and customers from the Banbury area are strongly advised to avoid travel to and from stations north of Banbury, and to travel either side of the Bank Holiday weekend instead. Trains towards London Marylebone are also expected to be busier than usual.

For those travelling to the Challenge Cup Final on 26 August, or the Tottenham Hotspur vs Burnley match on 27 August, most trains will be calling at Wembley Stadium Station before and after the game. However, customers are advised to avoid the busiest services by travelling to the events from Haddenham & Thame Parkway and other stations further south.

Passengers are urged to plan their journeys, check before they travel and allow extra time to reach their destination. Additional travel information can be found at www.chilternrailways.co.uk/news/euston-works.
