Service amendments due to extreme Hot Weather
The Met Office has issued a Red heat warning for Wednesday & Thursday (24 & 25 June). Very hot weather is expected to continue into Friday (26 June), with a Red heat warning now covering the southern part of our network.
With such widespread and severe weather potentially damaging the rail infrastructure, trains will be running at greatly reduced levels (fewer than 50% of normal levels on some routes) on Wednesday 24, Thursday 25 and Friday 26 June to ensure everyone's safety. This means there may be significant delays and very busy conditions.
For most of Friday, we will be running the same or a very similar timetable as we have done on Wednesday & Thursday. This timetable is now available in online journey planners and is available to download below. Further direct trains to / from Wembley Stadium station have been added which are visible in online journey planners.
We strongly advise you to avoid travelling if possible. Trains are running at a greatly reduced levels to ensure everyone's safety, which means you may experience significant delays and very busy conditions.
Ticket arrangements and refunds
- Friday 26 June: Customers travelling today with pre-purchased Super Off-Peak or Off-Peak tickets may travel today on Chiltern Railways services without any time-restrictions.
- Tickets valid for travel on Tuesday 23, Wednesday 24, Thursday 25 or Friday 26 June will be valid until Tuesday 30 June.
- If you no longer wish to travel, Chiltern tickets dated 23, 24, 25 or 26 June will be eligible for a full refund from where you bought your ticket.
Refunds
You are reminded that you have the option to cancel your journey and get a refund on your ticket, if you have not used it to travel. You should return your unused Ticket to the original retailer or Train Company from whom it was purchased, where you will be given a full refund with no administration fee charged.
For customers holding tickets for Tuesday 23, Wednesday 24, Thursday 25 or Friday 26 June 2026 who chose not to travel at all, you will be able to claim a full refund, with no admin fee charged. This refund must be applied for within 28 days, from and paid by the original retailer.
If you have a Return ticket and you do not/cannot make your outward journey because of disruption, you are permitted a refund on your ticket even if the return journey is not affected by disruption caused by the weather. The same will be true if the return journey is planned for a day affected by the weather but the outward is not.
Season Tickets including Flexi Season Tickets
Applicable if any part of the journey involves an impacted train operator, including Chiltern Railways
Usual Delay Repay arrangements apply. As we have strongly advised customers to avoid travelling if possible, on the affected days, Season Ticket holders will be able to claim a 100% pro-rata refund, per day that any customer follows this advice and does not travel.
Season ticket holders should apply using our Delay Repay Form selecting "Did not travel" when asked about the length of your delay.
If you are unable to use the tickets on your Flexi Season due to the heatwave travel advice, you must wait until the Flexi Season has expired. If at this point, there are tickets still unused, you can contact us via the Contact Us form to refund any remaining tickets. If you have activated your ticket and then realised you can not travel, you can contact us from the Contact Us form and we will validate that the ticket was not used by checking tap data and refund that days travel. If you do not use the ticket on one or more of the days affected by industrial action, but then use them on a future date before the expiry of the ticket, there is no loss to you and therefore no refund due if all tickets are used prior to expiry.

Summary of service changes
(both directions)
Services between Birmingham and London Marylebone
- Very few services will run north of Birmingham Moor Street
- Throughout the day, fewer than 50% of services will run. This includes at morning and evening peak times.
Services between Oxford and London Marylebone
- Throughout the day, fewer than 50% of services will run. This includes at morning and evening peak times.
Services between Aylesbury and London Marylebone (via Amersham)
- Throughout the day, fewer than 50% of services will run. This includes at morning and evening peak times.
We plan to run normal timetabled services on the following local routes:
- Princes Risborough - Aylesbury
- Stratford-upon-Avon - Leamington Spa (services will terminate at Warwick heading South, but will start from Leamington Spa as normal)
- Birmingham Moor Street - Leamington Spa (services will terminate at Warwick heading South, but will start from Leamington Spa as normal)
A track defect just outside Leamington Spa station means that fewer trains than normal are able to run over the specific stretch of line. Trains on the two 'shuttle' routes mentioned above, heading towards Leamington Spa, will terminate at Warwick. Customers wishing to continue towards Leamington Spa or beyond will need to change to the following through service at Warwick. Journey planners will be accurate for this alteration by the start of each impacted day.
- No trains will call at Sudbury Hill Harrow or at Sudbury & Harrow Road.
Temperatures are expected to be exceptionally high.
Changes may be made on the day, so please Check Before you Travel.
