Buses and Trams

Most of our stations have convenient bus links nearby – you’ll find details of some of our stations’ bus connections below. Chiltern Railways season ticket holders in Aylesbury, Aylesbury Vale Parkway, High Wycombe and Bicester can take advantage of free bus travel on certain routes – see the information under the relevant station below.

PlusBus is also available from most stations listed below – it allows you to add on unlimited discounted bus travel in the whole of the local area. You can buy a PlusBus ticket with most types of rail ticket (single, day return, period return and season ticket), from any booking office at the same time as you purchase your rail ticket. You can get PlusBus for the start and/or the end of your journey.

Aylesbury and Aylesbury Vale Parkway

In Aylesbury several buses stop just outside our two stations, allowing easy connections. You’ll find timetables for local bus services (including those mentioned below) on the Buckinghamshire County Council website.

Chiltern Railways season tickets valid to Aylesbury or Aylesbury Vale Parkway (monthly or longer) are valid on:

  • Silver Rider (1) - for Fairford Leys.
  • Water Rider (6) - for Watermead and Buckingham Park.
  • Green Route (4) - for Berryfields (stops at both Aylesbury and Aylesbury Vale Parkway).
  • Route 16 – for Quainton and Waddesdon (from Aylesbury Vale Parkway).
  • Local Arriva buses in the Aylesbury Ticket Zone along with the 300 between Aylesbury and High Wycombe and 280 between Aylesbury and Haddenham and Thame Parkway.

Season tickets on Chiltern Smartcards are accepted on these services.

Banbury

Bicester North and Bicester Village

You’ll find the timetables of local bus services on the timetables tab on traveline.info. To see live bus times visit Oxontime. In addition to local buses Chiltern Railways supports the operation of two additional types of bus service in Bicester:

  • Bicester Village to Bicester North shuttle – this runs approximately every 20 minutes, providing a connection between our two stations in Bicester. This service is free if you hold a Chiltern Railways season ticket (monthly or longer). Season tickets on Chiltern Smartcards are accepted on these services.
  • Hail and Rail – a taxibus services from Bicester North to Greenwood Village, Langford and Bure Park. In the morning peak there’s a Hail and Ride service, and in the evening peak there’s a Drop Off service timed to meet incoming London trains. At other times the service operates on demand - simply call Alpha Cars on 01869 252525 to book.

    o   The evening Drop Off services operate to Greenwood Village, Langford and Bure Park approximately every 15 minutes between 17:30 and 20:00. They are timed to meet incoming London trains.

    o   The morning Hail and Ride services operate approximately every 15 minutes between 06:00 and 08:15, from Greenwood Village, Langford and Bure Park.

Birmingham, Cradley Heath, Dorridge and Stourbridge

Haddenham and Thame Parkway

The 280 bus to Oxford and Aylesbury operates from just outside the station. You can find the timetable and live running information on the Arriva Bus website.

High Wycombe

In High Wycombe several buses stop near to the station, allowing easy connections. You’ll find timetables for local bus services (including those mentioned below) on the Buckinghamshire County Council website.
