Chiltern Railways by Arriva

From Thursday 19 February through to Sunday 22 February (inclusive) there will be a four-day closure of the route between Aylesbury Vale Parkway and London Marylebone (via Amersham).

There will also be no London Underground services running between Amersham / Chesham / Watford and Harrow-on-the-Hill.

This is due to major signalling system upgrade / testing works taking place on the London Underground stretch of the line over which we normally run trains.

No Chiltern Railways trains will operate on the route Marylebone - Amersham - Aylesbury Vale Parkway for the entire day. Rail replacement buses will operate as follows, connecting with trains to/from Marylebone at Beaconsfield:

  • Beaconsfield - Amersham - Great Missenden - Wendover - Stoke Mandeville - Aylesbury - Aylesbury Vale Parkway.
  • Map showing Metropolitan Line route closure from the nineteenth to the twenty second of February 2026. Buses will run from Aylesbury Vale Parkway to Beaconsfield for connecting trains to London. No Metropolitan Line services from Amersham, with some replacement bus services running. From Aylesbury, please travel by train via Princes Risborough.

    An amended timetable will be in operation, in respect of the following:
     

    • Planned engineering works - 4 day closure (19th to 22nd February).
    • (London Underground signalling works between Harrow on the Hill and Amersham).
       

    No Chiltern Railways trains will operate on the route Marylebone - Amersham - Aylesbury Vale Parkway for the entire four day period. Rail replacement buses will operate as follows, connecting with trains to/from Marylebone at Beaconsfield:
     

    • Beaconsfield - Amersham - Great Missenden - Wendover - Stoke Mandeville - Aylesbury - Aylesbury Vale Parkway.
       

    Thursday & Friday

    Between 0502 & 0738 there will be seven trains from Aylesbury to London Marylebone (via High Wycombe), with four of those starting at Aylesbury Vale Parkways. In the evening peak, there will be three direct trains from London Marylebone to Aylesbury / Aylesbury Vale Parkway, via High Wycombe. After the evening peak there will be a further six trains to the Aylesbury area.

    Outside of the morning and evening peaks, customers traveling to/from Aylesbury are encouraged to travel via Princes Risborough (by train) for connecting services to /from London Marylebone.

    Saturday & Sunday
    The usually hourly ‘stopping’ service will run from Aylesbury to London Marylebone (via High Wycombe) over the weekend.

      London Underground bus route information

      METROPOLITAN LINE: Thursday 19, Friday 20, Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 February, no service between Harrow-on-the-Hill and Amersham / Chesham / Watford. There will also be no CHILTERN RAILWAYS services between Marylebone and Aylesbury Vale Parkway (via Amersham). Replacement buses operate.


      Replacement buses operate:

      • Service ML2: (Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday): Harrow-on-the-Hill - Watford via North Harrow, Pinner, Northwood Hills, Northwood, Rickmansworth and Croxley;
      • Service ML3: (Thursday and Friday only): Harrow-on-the-Hill - Chesham via North Harrow, Pinner, Northwood Hills, Northwood, Rickmansworth, Chorleywood, Chalfont & Latimer and Amersham
      • Service ML5: (Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday): Northwood - Moor Park;
      • Service ML6: (Saturday and Sunday only): Rickmansworth - Chesham via Chorleywood, Chalfont & Latimer and Amersham
