Bicester North Improvement works

Exciting changes are coming to Bicester North station this year with a £3.8 million investment. We’re revitalising key facilities at the station with upgrades to the car parks, toilets and ticket office.

What changes are happening?
We are investing £3.8 million this year to improve Bicester North station. Structural improvements are needed to the main station car park, so we will be removing the upper deck and then remodelling the lower deck. This will result in a better layout and improved facilities such as lighting. We will be refurbishing all of the customer toilets to make them brighter and make better use of the space. The ticket office is also being refreshed with new painting and flooring.

How will this affect parking at the station?
To ensure we don’t lose too many parking spaces during the building work, the project will be done in phases. We will also be re-opening the old Woodyard car park. Work has already begun to prepare the site ahead of opening.
We will start work in March 2025 to remove the upper deck at the main station car park. Once that is complete, we will begin work on renewing the lower deck of the car park.
There will however be some temporary reduction in parking spaces whilst the work is carried out and we expect both car parks to be busy, especially on peak commuter days Tuesday to Thursday.

Where should I park if the car parks are full?
If both car parks are full at Bicester North station, please use Bicester Village station car park where more parking spaces are available. If you are travelling to stations towards Birmingham, you can use the Bicester Village shuttle bus to travel between Bicester Village and Bicester North stations free of charge. To use this service, please show the bus driver your parking ticket receipt or RingGo confirmation. If you are travelling south towards London Marylebone, trains run frequently from Bicester Village station.

Will there still be toilets available at the station?
Work to refurbish the station toilets will start on 4 February and we expect it to be complete by the end of March 2025. During this time, a temporary unisex accessible toilet will be available outside the front of the station near the parking bays.

Where can I buy my train ticket?
The ticket office hours may be reduced whilst we carry out the decorating. The ticket machine will be available to purchase tickets and station staff will also be available to help you during opening hours. Tickets can also be purchased online at chilternrailways.co.uk

We understand that this development work will cause some disruption, so we thank you for your patience and understanding. We look forward to completing these upgrades to improve your experience at Bicester North station.
