Access to Banbury station - Tramway Road improvement works
Oxfordshire County Council and their contractors have now completed the work to provide a new route to the station by connecting Tramway Road to Station Approach Road and a new route to the West side car park.
These improvements include a new footway, cycleway and bus stops along Tramway Road, along with enhanced car parking and drop-off options. The new road layouts and car park opened on Thursday 18 December 2025.
What these changes mean for our customers
- Parking is once again available in the small West car park B. Parking is however very limited here and customers approaching the station from the North and East are advised that the main, parking, collection and drop - off facilities are available in the East side multi-storey car park.
- Accessible parking bays are available in the station approach forecourt and the Hackney carriage taxi rank remains in the current location. More accessible car parking bays are available in the East side multi-storey on level 2 and also in the refurbished West Side car park, now accessible only from the new Tramway Road roundabout.
- Customers wishing to park in motorcycle parking should use the dedicated area located in the East side multi-storey car park.
- Pedestrians access is now possible from all directions as shown on the map below.
- Vehicles will be able to drive down Tramway Road to the new roundabout and turn right to access the football ground and the industrial estate (only) as well as the West side A car park. This is the only way to access the West Side car park.
- The road past the station building is now closed to unauthorised vehicle, with traffic enforcement in place.
