Improvements at Banbury station

Access to Banbury station - Tramway Road improvement works

Works by Oxfordshire County Council are underway to provide a new route to the station by connecting Tramway Road to Station Approach Road and a new route to the West side car park.

These improvements include a new footway, cycleway and bus stops along Tramway Road, and enhanced car parking and drop-off options. The next phase of these works will start on 18 June 2025.

What changes are happening from the 18 June 2025?

  • Parking will not be available in the West car park B and this area will become a limited drop- off and collection point only. Parking, collection and  drop - off facilities are available in the East side multi-storey car park and this arrangement will stay in place until the project finishes later in the year.
  • Accessible parking bays will still be available in the station approach forecourt and the Hackney carriage taxi rank will stay in the current location. More accessible car parking bays are available in the East side multi-storey on level 2.
  • Customers wishing to park in motorcycle parking should use the dedicated area located in the East side multi-storey car park.
  • Pedestrians will also be able to access the station using the Tramway Road by following the temporary diversion route through the closed station car park.
  • Vehicles will be able to drive down Tramway Road to the new roundabout and turn right to access the football ground and the industrial estate (only). The West side A is still currently closed for works.
