Further £6 million investment in train refurbishment
Following the £17.5 million refurbishment of our Turbo fleet, we are now well into a £6 million investment of our longer distance Clubman trains, which are between 2 and 10 years old. When the project is completed in Spring 2008, our entire fleet of trains will have been refurbished, ensuring the best of travelling environments for our passengers.
Our Clubman trains are already very popular amongst passengers, featuring air conditioning, internal LED information systems, CCTV, tables at every seat, good legroom, seating arranged in both airline style and in bays of 4, plus optimum window / seat alignment.
The refurbishment programme retains these features, whilst making the following improvements:
- New carpets
- New seating, interior colourscheme and fabrics
- Better lighting
- New tables featuring unique expandable sections to enable laptops to be used comfortably
- Improved disabled seating area
- Better toilet facilities
- Power sockets at each seat for laptops and mobile phones
- Improved at-seat refreshment service on peak services and designated storage area for catering trolleys
- Designated mobile-free 'Quiet Zone' on every train, with improved signage
- Engine modifications to improve reliability still further
