Buying a Ticket
A full range of tickets can be purchased from any of our staffed stations. If you prefer, you can order your Chiltern Railways tickets in advance over the phone using any major credit or debit card. Call 08456 005 165 (07.00hrs to 20.00hrs). Tickets will be sent out by 1st class post or can be collected from ticket machines at major stations.
Penalty Fares
A minimum £20 Penalty Fare applies on all Chiltern Railways services if you fail to produce a valid ticket when required to do so for your entire journey. Penalty Fares regulations apply to all passengers. However, if your disability means that you have been unable to purchase a ticket, each case is considered individually.
Railcards and Concessionary Fares
You can pick up an application form for a Disabled Persons Railcard at any of our staffed stations. The card costs £18.00 for 1 year or £48 for 3 years and allows you and one accompanying adult to travel for a discounted price on most of our services and those of other National Rail operators throughout Britain. Even if you don’t have a Disabled Persons Railcard, you can obtain concessionary fares on certain tickets if you are registered as visually impaired or have to remain in your own wheelchair for a rail journey. For full details please refer to the “Rail Travel for Disabled Passengers” booklet which is available from all our staffed stations. More information about the Disabled Persons Railcard can be found by clicking here. More information about travel on the National Rail network for disabled passengers can be found here.
