Introducing Simpler Rail Fares
Tickets across the whole UK rail network are grouped into three main categories:

Buy in advance, specified trains (subject to availability)
Advance tickets are Single (one-way) fares offering great value for money on longer distance journeys. You must book in advance and your ticket is valid only on one specific train time on one specific day.
Railcard discounts have been extended to all Advance fares: you can save one third off fares for all Standard Class tickets.
Select this link to buy our in-house advance “barcode” tickets, from as little as £2.60 with a Railcard, and your ticket will be sent to your mobile phone or to your email address.

Buy anytime, travel off -peak
These are cheaper fares for travelling when it is less busy: they have more restrictions on the times of day that you can travel.
The Chiltern Railways Super Off-Peak is valid every day on trains scheduled to arrive into London Marylebone after 1345hrs and leaving London after 1100hrs; not valid between1520hrs and 2000hrs on trains leaving London Marylebone Monday-Friday.
Restrictions apply even if you are traveling only for part of the journey.

Buy anytime, travel anytime
These are the most flexible walk-up fares: there are no time restrictions at all.
These are suited to people who need complete flexibility.
Anytime groups all of the current Open and Day tickets.
