Forward thinking by Chiltern Railways joined two train company carriages to strengthen trains for the busy bank holiday demand.
Extra train carriages were hired by Chiltern Railways from First Great Western to provide for the extra demand during the bank holiday weekend’s influx of passengers.
Chiltern Railways had predicted higher numbers of passengers due to Wembley Stadium events and Virgin’s closure of the West Coast Mainline; so it was decided to hire extra carriages from First Great Western to accommodate extra passengers.
The units hired ran between London Marylebone and Wembley Stadium Station and consisted of two units and four carriages. By using these carriages Chiltern Railways were able to strengthen other services affected by the demand.
Neil Micklethwaite, Commercial Director of Chiltern Railways, said: “We believe in getting the fundamentals right for our passengers.
“Therefore we increased our capacity with the help of First Great Western and made sure we did our best to help our passengers have a safe and comfortable bank holiday weekend.”
