High-Tech Ticket Machines Installed to Cut Queues at Warwick Parkway

Date: 15 Jun 2005

The most up-to-date ticket machine technology will be unveiled at Warwick Parkway Station on Monday to ease the journey of the modern-day traveller.

The new machines have been installed by Chiltern Railways as part of a £1.7million project to provide a fast, reliable system for ticket sales in the majority of stations along its route. Other stations will receive the new machines over the coming weeks.

Marketing Manager at Chiltern Railways, David Whitley, said: “As passenger numbers have increased, so too has the demand on our ticket offices.

“While some customers like the opportunity to discuss their travel requirements directly with a member of staff, there are plenty of people who know what ticket they need, and self-service ticket machines are ideal for this type of transaction.

“The new ‘fast-ticket’ machines are really easy to use – you just follow the on-screen instructions.”

The new touch-screen ticket machines sell single and return tickets to most UK destinations, as well as 7 day season tickets – the first time such tickets have been available from self-service machines. Customers can pay by cash or credit/debit card.

On Monday extra staff will be on hand to show people how to use the new machines.
