Heavy storms are forecast for later this afternoon and into the evening of Monday 23rd December, with very strong gusts of wind.
Network Rail have told us that they will impose an emergency speed restriction of 50mph from 1900 to 0700 tomorrow morning. This is half our normal speed of 100mph and will result in very severe delays and cancellations. As a result, there is a very high possibility of severe disruption throughout the latter part of the afternoon and evening of Monday 23rd December. We advise passengers to leave London by 1700.
On Monday, normal ticket restrictions will not apply with Off Peak and Super Off Peak tickets valid on any train. Advance tickets booked for travel today will be valid on any train on Tuesday.
If you were planning to travel on Monday afternoon but can travel earlier, then please do so.
Regular updates will be available here or on www.nationalrail.co.uk and via our Twitter feed.
