London Marylebone - 06/06/07

QUESTION: When are all the Clubman trains going to be refurbished?
ANSWER: By the second week in December. So far, 3 units have been completed and the rest are going through on a 12 day cycle.

QUESTION: Can the trains have more obvious disabled sticker signs, as passengers would not move for a disabled person?
ANSWER: All the signage was installed to comply with legislation and in consultation with stakeholder groups. We have no plans therefore to make it more visible. Platform staff are trained to help disabled passengers and should be asked for help.

QUESTION: Could the ‘quiet zone’ be better advertised and better enforced?
ANSWER: We are going to put the message on the internal passenger screens and ask the drivers to reinforce the quiet coach on their announcements. Also our Clubman Trains refurbishment program (which is being rolled out across our fleet) features much more prominent signage.

QUESTION: High Wycombe station is a disgrace, what is being done to improve the station and why is it taking so long?
ANSWER: The High Wycombe Station re-build is coming along well following the fire and is expected to be finished over the next few months.

QUESTION: Warwick Parkway lift is never clean.
ANSWER: We have recently reviewed the way our staff and management carry out their cleaning and checks. This should improve matters.

QUESTION: The ticket gates at Beaconsfield will ruin the charm of the station.
ANSWER: Installing ticket gates at Beaconsfield is a Department for Transport requirement under the Chiltern Railways Franchise. However by limiting access to those people with legitimate tickets, we believe it will help maintain a pleasant travelling environment in the future.

QUESTION: TVM and Monitors that are outside are difficult to read when it is sunny, what can be done to improve this?
ANSWER: We are currently looking at buying screens to improve the situation. This solution has worked at many locations.

QUESTION: The London Marylebone board is difficult to read for people with red colour vision problems.
ANSWER: The current board is very old technology and will shortly be replaced with a new board. The new board will feature high visibility orange font which we are advised is the most suitable colour for those with vision problems.
