Every week, we have over 400 items of lost property left on our trains or stations. We will always do our best to contact the owner of an item, where they can be identified.
If you have left an item at a Chiltern station or on a Chiltern train, you can contact the Lost Property Office; either:
- In writing by filling in a Lost Property form, available from any Chiltern Railways ticket office, and returning it to a member of Chiltern Railways Staff; or by post to Chiltern Railways Lost Property, Marylebone Station, London NW1 6JJ; or fax to 0207 333 3002.
OR
- By telephone on 08456 005 165, selecting option 3, then option 4.
Items are stored in our Lost Property Office at London Marylebone for 3 months from the date they were received. A collection fee is levied to cover administration costs:
- Electronic items of high value (laptops, PDAs etc) - £20.00
- Mobile phones and I-pods - £10.00
- Books, umbrellas, hats, scarves and gloves - £2.00
- All other items - £3.00
Items of cash are subject to an administration charge, and storage fees may apply for items of higher value (e.g. electronics, passports, reading glasses etc), or if you fail to collect your item on the agreed date.
Fees are payable on collection at London Marylebone.
Items may be sent to the owner by post, by prior arrangement and prior payment of all carriage costs and collection fee.
Please note:
As specified by the National Rail Conditions of Carriage, a Train Company is not responsible for items of luggage which a customer leaves on Train Company premises or trains. If an item is left on a train or other railway premises, the train operator has the right to open and examine the contents before removing it to a secure place.
