Basil, for whom the term wily old fox could have been coined, first appeared on our screens as long ago as 1963.
His popularity undiminished through the course of five decades, a revival courtesy of CBBC in 2002 brought the glove-puppet character to a new generation of fans.
An eloquent speaker, bordering on posh, Basil's prize possession is his wonderfully bushy tail.
In this family laughter show titled High Skool Mania, he and his friends get up to all manner of mischief.
Crazy Carl Johns, Double Trouble, Bonnie and Madcap Balloon-atic Bob Wooding all feature as part of the supporting "class".
