June 20th, 2008
For one night one only, legendary guitarist Santana plays the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) on June 20th.
The Mexican-born artist has been a committed contributor to world music during a career which spans five decades and has resulted in more than 20 studio albums.
Since forming the eponymous Santana Blues Band in 1961, he has worked with many great artists and sold millions of records.
Among the list of recent collaborators are Mary J Blige, Steve Tyler and Seal.
Rolling Stone Magazine explains: "Santana is the most successful practitioner of fusion because he understands the style not as a souped-up rock-jazz hybrid but as an embrace of musical pantheism."
He has won a legion of new fans in recent years since the release of the acclaimed Supernatural album in 2000.
Tickets for the Birmingham leg of his European tour are available on the web via Ticketmaster.com, with prices starting at £38.08.
Anyone from elsewhere in the Midlands hoping to get to the event can reach Birmingham on Chiltern Railways.
