Ali Campbell at the NIA

June 07th, 2008

UB40 frontman Ali Campbell is touring to promote his successful solo album Running Free and will be performing at Birmingham's National Indoor Arena (NIA) this summer.

The singer originally planned just one performance at the Royal Albert Hall but demand for the tickets was so great he decided to undertake a national tour, much to the delight of fans.

While the album featured duets with many notable stars such as Katie Melua and Smokey Robinson, the tour will just feature Campbell, although his publicists have implied there could be the odd "surprise" along the way.

"UB40's silver-throated warbler has spiced up his second solo outing with guest vocals ... but even without them it would be easy to love," enthused Hi Fi News, which made Running Free its album of the month.

Tickets for this gig cost £32.50 and can be booked through the NIA's website.

Reaching the venue is easy as the Chiltern Railways line travels throughout the Midlands and into Birmingham - meaning fans who could not get tickets for the Royal Albert Hall event can still catch Campbell on tour.
