My Dream at the Birmingham Hippodrome

June 08th, 2008

Saturday June 8th will see dance fans flock to Birmingham to get a seat for My Dream, the latest show from China's Disabled People's Performing Arts Troupe.

The group, the aim of which is to dispel misconceptions about the nature of disability, conveys a "magnificent energy" to audience members, host the Birmingham Hippodrome states.

Through dance the troupe manages to transcend boundaries of nationality and language to demonstrate that disability is no obstacle when pursuing one's dream.

One of the pinnacles of the production is the "one thousand hands Bodhisattva" dance, performed by 21 dancers with hearing impairments.

The show is presented by the Chinese in Britain Forum, with tickets ranging in price from £20 to £68 dependent upon seat location, purchasable through the Birmingham Hippodrome website.

Those in London or the Midlands hoping to reach Birmingham for the show can do so using Chiltern Railways' services.
