Birmingham Climate Change Festival

Information Updated: 28-04-2008

Birmingham is rightly famed for its many unusual events and festivals but now it is to stage a world first this summer as it hosts a climate change festival.

Organised by the city council and the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (Cabe), the event will examine the link between building design and climate change.

The festival hopes to show that redesign rather than self-denial is the way we will tackle global warming in the future.

Cabe explains: "The festival organisers promise something very different to other campaigns about sustainability.

"No guilt and no finger wagging. This will be collective, dramatic, sociable and fun."

Various events will be taking place around the city during the festival and more information can be found on the council's website.

Festival-goers may want to do their bit and leave the car at home. Fortunately, the Chiltern Railways line travels from London and throughout the Midlands before arriving at Birmingham.
